POST PRODUCTION - TORONTO, ON

DEPARTMENT: POST PRODUCTION 
POSITION: TRAINEE ASSISTANT EDITOR
PAY: Commensurate with experience, but no less than minimum wage
DATES (approx): September 1st, 2019 to February 22nd, 2020

JOB DESCRIPTION:


You will be assisting the Editing team throughout the production. The duties of a Trainee Assistant Editor shall be performed under the coordination, direction or supervision of the First Assistant Editor.


Shifts may be up to 12+ hours a day with possible weekends and nights.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, perform repetitive tasks, be detail oriented, a team player, reliable and highly organized.


Will help maintain a balanced and structured environment in the editing room. The First Assistant editor whom you will be assisting, is responsible for operating the editing technology as well as interacting with various people on the filmmaking staff, particularly the camera, film lab and sound department. Assisting in organizing the cutting room for that day and arranging it for the next. 


The role of an assistant editor is to allow the editor to work uninterrupted. Receive and interpret paperwork from the staff and crew, relaying this information to the editor. Help coordinate with the sound team to plan for sound effects and other music used in the production, and import unedited footage into the editing program to examine a scene for incomplete footage. Each scene is assembled in a computer system according to the editor's preference. 


Assist in recording notes during screenings and aid in the integration of visual effects. Maintain and arrange the workspace, fix a technical issue or organize extra footage.


REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid G driver’s license

Computer proficiency (PC and Mac)  

Demonstrated skills in various editing software

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Minimum age of 18 years old

STUNTS TRAINING OPPORTUNITY - NORTH BAY, ON

DEPARTMENT: STUNTS 

POSITION: STUNT PERFORMER and S.S.E. (Special Skills extra), both male and female. You will be working directly with Stunt Coordinator Randy Butcher (imdb.com)

PAY: Per ACTRA Rates

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A STUNT PERFORMER is a person who performs a task in replace of a cast member who cannot or should not perform said task for safety reasons (stunt double). A STUNT PERFORMER can also be a person who play a character (non0descript character) seen on camera performing a task in commission of the role engaged to portray. A stunt performer will be engaged by the Stunt Coordinator based on several criteria not least of which includes physical ability, suitable look and size.


A SPECIAL SKILLS EXTRA is a person who performs a task that requires a particular skill, but is not deemed dangerous or risky based on said performer’s skill with the activity performed. Things such as horseback riding, riding a bicycle or motorcycle fall into this category. An S.S.E performer will be engaged by the Stunt Coordinator based on several criteria not the least of which includes physical ability, suitable look and size.


No experience necessary, and on the job training will be provided under the guidance of the Stunt Coordinator. Successful candidates will be required to work under a union (ACTRA) agreement as a permittee, and must be willing to complete any required orientation prior to beginning work.


REQUIREMENTS include, but are not limited to:


Valid Driver’s License – car, truck, and/or motorcycle. The ability to drive both automatic and standard transmissions is an asset, but not necessary.

Athletic background and various skills associated with some – Martial arts, boxing, gymnastics, etc.

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Minimum age of 18 years old

No pre-existing injuries or physical conditions that would prevent you from completing the physical task engaged to perform.

POSITION: PRODUCER’S ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION:


You will be assisting the producer throughout the production.   


Shifts will be 12+ hours a day with occasional weekends and nights.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, perform repetitive tasks, be detail oriented, a team player, reliable and highly organized.


You will be assisting the producer with tasks as assigned, including organization of paperwork, answering phones, tracking tasks for the producer and ensuring responses are provided in a timely manner, assisting with communication to departments and personal errands as necessary.

GRIPS - NORTH BAY, ONT

DEPARTMENT: GRIPS 
POSITION : GRIP

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The grip department is responsible for the shaping of light on a film set.  Grips are crew members whose tasks include setting up and tearing down various stands, dolly tracks, flats, flags, etc. This department works closely with both the Camera and Lighting departments. 


Shifts will be 12+ working hours a day with occasional weekends and nights, according to the production schedule. The candidate should be able to work in all types of weather conditions and physically able to lift heavy loads as required. They will be able to multi-task, work in fast paced and high-pressure environments as well as have strong communication and interpersonal skills.  They will report to the Key Grip and/or Best Boy Grip on set.


Candidate will be required to bring proper footwear.  Specific requirements will be provided by the Key Grip and Best Boy Grip.

LIGHTING TECH - NORTH BAY, ONT

DEPARTMENT:LIGHTING

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lighting Technicians are crew members whose tasks include setting up and tearing down various lights. The department is responsible for setting up electrical power for various departments while on set/location. This department works closely with both the Camera and Grip departments to set up shots. 


Shifts will be 12+ working hours a day with occasional weekends and nights, according to the production schedule. The candidate should be able to work in all types of weather conditions and physically able to lift heavy loads as required. They will be able to multi-task, work in fast paced and high pressure environments as well as have strong communication and interpersonal skills.  They will report to the Gaffer and/or Best Boy Electric on set.


Candidate will be required to bring proper footwear.  Specific requirements will be provided by the Gaffer and Best Boy Electric.

ACCOUNTING - NORTH BAY, ONT

DEPARTMENT:ACCOUNTING
POSITION : Trainee Assistant Accountant 
PAY: $1,115 per 60hr workweek 
DATES (approx): August 19, 2019 to November 15, 2019

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be part of a team of people devoted to helping manage and track the production’s costs. The department works closely with specific Producers and Coordinators to keep them appraised of money flow.


Shifts may vary depending on shooting hours but will generally be regular office hours between 8AM-6PM Monday to Friday.  Accounting experience is an asset.  Film experience is not necessary, but is an asset. 


The right candidate is familiar with bookkeeping principles and has a demonstrated proficiency in both MS Word and MS Excel. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, perform repetitive tasks, be detail oriented, a team player, reliable and highly organized.


Candidate will be required to work under a union agreement as a permittee and must be willing to complete any required orientation prior to beginning work.

HAIR/MAKE-UP 2 - NORTH BAY, ONT

DEPARTMENT:MAKE-UP
POSITION : MAKE-UP ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Make-Up Assistants will support the Head of Department (who is a licensed professional/artist who applies make-up to an actor) in various duties as needed including: help prep and maintain equipment/tools daily, help manage inventory of products/items, occasionally assist in prepping and applying make-up to additional cast and extras, and track the continuity of makeup throughout the series.


The candidate will be able to work shifts of 12+ hours, work occasional weekends and nights and prepared to stand for several hours at a time. They will be a good listener, detail oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.


Cosmetology experience is an asset, but not necessary as on the job training may be provided.  Candidate will be required to work under a union agreement as a permittee and must be willing to complete any required orientation prior to beginning work.

SOUND - NORTH BAY, ONT

DEPARTMENT: SOUND 
POSITION : SOUND ASSISTANT/CABLE PULLER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The sound department is responsible for recording all sound during filming. An assistant will be tasked with helping the Mixer and Boom Operator move/manage equipment/tools/items. As skills are built, the assistant may be tasked with 2nd boom operation or putting mics on additional actors. Position requires that the Sound Assistant read and is familiar with the scripts for the production.


Shifts will be 12+ hours a day with occasional weekends and nights. The candidate should be able to work in all types of weather conditions and physically able to lift heavy loads as required. They will be able to multi-task, work in fast paced and high-pressure environments as well as have strong communication and inter-personal skills.  They will report to the Sound Mixer on set.

Candidate may be required to bring proper footwear.

The duties of the carpenter include building the sets and making alterations to the locations of filming.

Candidate will be required to bring own tool belt, tools, proper footwear and attire.

As per their instructions of the Set Decorator, Assistant Set Decorator, Buyer or Lead Dresser, a Set Dec Crew person may assist in the safe and efficient pick-up and return of all items and materials used as set décor; the carriage, movement, placement and preparation of all dressing within all studio and/or location sets; the maintenance, replacement and listing of inventory. The Set Dec Crew person should be able to follow directions with a minimum amount of supervision.


Shifts will be 12+ hours a day with occasional weekends and nights. The candidate should be able to work in all types of weather conditions and physically able to lift heavy loads as required.
